My top five...Celtics

In the spirit of the NBA Finals, and the renewal of one of the league's greatest rivalries, I have decided to start my blogging off with a bang. Like Charles Barkley, but with a little less around the waist, I've got my own version of my Fav Five all-time Boston Celtics. I'm SURE this will spark some debate. Here we go.

1.) Bill Russell. Dominant on defense, he changed the way the game was played. And when Red needed him to score, he'd go out and drop 30. Plus he has more rings than he has fingers. That is downright wrong.

2.) Larry Bird. Not only could he score at will, but he was a great passer and underrated rebounder. He made all of his teammates better, and if a big shot was needed, he was taking it.

3.) Bob Cousy. Tough call here over Havilcek, but he was the engineer that drove all those Celtics championship teams. Consistently hit shots when the Celtics needed answers, especially in their great series against the Lakers and Knicks.

4.) Kevin McHale. One of the best power forwards. Ever. His drop step turn was devastating. Either he was getting two, or he was getting to the line.

5.) Paul Pierce. Again, it's tough to put him over others such as Parrish, Dennis Johnson and Reggie Lewis, but Pierce is sixth on the teams all-time scoring list, has played in the era with the most athletic players in history, and now stands on the verge of the team's first title in more than 20 years.

Others receiving votes: Reggie Lewis, Robert Parrish, Dennis Johnson, John Havilcek, Danny Ainge, Len Bias.
